Svømmer besvimte i vannet i VM-finale

Artistsvømmer Anita Alvarez fra USA ble onsdag reddet ut av bassenget etter å ha besvimt under solokonkurransen i VM i Budapest.

Alvarez ble reddet av spanjolen Andrea Fuentes, som stupte uti da hun så Alvarez ligge på bunnen av bassenget. Fuentes fikk amerikaneren til overflaten og opp av bassenget.

– Det var skremmende, jeg så at hun ikke pustet, sa Fuentes til den spanske avisen Marca.

– Ingen reagerte

Ifølge treneren, som selv har fire OL-medaljer, var det ingen av vaktene i svømmehallen som reagerte da Alvarez fikk problemer.

– Jeg var nødt til å hoppe uti, for livredderne gjorde det ikke, sier Fuentes.

Fikk legehjelp

Alvarez fikk legehjelp i svømmehallen og skal være i god form.

– Hun hadde bare fått vann i lungene og er ok nå, sa trener Fuentes.

Alvarez har deltatt i artistisk svømming under svømme-VM, som pågår i Ungarns hovedstad Budapest.
