Det er ikke vanskelig å forstå at president Donald Trump nå raser mot sine politiske motstandere. Riksrettssaken mot ham vil dominere den endelige historien om hans presidentskap. Akkurat slik riksrettssaken mot Bill Clinton i 1998 har dominert hans ettermæle.

Trump er nå plassert i et selskap han aldri har ønsket å være en del av. Et selskap som fra og med nå består av tre presidenter. En slags skammens bukett.I 1868 ble president Andrew Johnson stilt for riksrett. Han var visepresidenten som overtok da Abraham Lincoln ble skutt og drept.
